McMURCHIE / NEWTON QUARTET

A new quartet featuring four of the very best musicians in the region under the combined leadership of Jake McMurchie and Dave Newton. The supremely versatile saxophonist Jake McMurchie is internationally recognised for his work with 'Get The Blessing' and here in Bristol for his superb band 'Michelson Morley' and his leading roles in the bands 'Uphill Game' and 'Tony Orrell's Big Top'. Dave Newton is acknowledged as one of the country's finest jazz piano players, and has been voted "Best Jazz Pianist" in the British Jazz Awards a record 14 times. The quartet is completed by the internationally renowned Frome based Danish bassist and composer Henrik Jensen, who will be playing the club for the first time and one of Fringe Jazz's most popular musicians Tony Orrell on drums.
