Pianist Horace Silver was one of the true jazz greats, and composed a huge number of memorable tunes across a performing career which started in the early 1950s and was to last for over fifty years. A pioneer of the hard-bop style and co-founder of the Jazz Messengers, his style developed to include blues, gospel and funk influences. Trumpeter Andy Hague has been leading this tribute to Silver for many years, but the band’s repertoire continues to expand and develop from the wealth of material to choose from. Andy Hague - trumpet, Kevin Figes - alto sax, Ben Waghorn - tenor sax, Jim Blomfield - piano, Riaan Vosloo - bass and Simon Gore - drums.
Always at their rip-roaring best they only play at Fringe Jazz once a year so make sure you don't miss tonight's gig.
