Ricardo Tejero - Alto Sax
Alex Ward - Guitar & Clarinet
Dominic Lash - Double Bass
A special extra TUESDAY night free improvisation gig this week with DOMINIC LASH bringing is Anglo/Spanish Quartet to Bristol for the first time. The quartet features the superb Spanish musicians Alto saxophonist RICARDO TEJERO and drummer JAVIER CARMONA coupled with the respected disciple of Derek Bailey and exponent of the 'prepared 'guitar ALEX WARD and Lash himself who is rated as one of the top Double Bass players on the European Free Improvised Music scene. The band are on a tour of the UK to promote their excellent new album "EXTREMOPHILE" (on Iluso Records).
This is the first time Lash has brought his main European band over to the UK and we were determined to include Bristol on the tour but just could not find a Wednesday night that fitted the itinerary, hence we've decided to add this extra Tuesday night to the FRINGE JAZZ program. Don't miss this extraordinary band.
Once a mainstay of the musicians collective the Oxford Improvisers, Dominic Lash actually lives in Bristol these days but like many of the UK's finest musicians he's probably better known in Europe and the USA. He has worked with amongst others Joe Morris, Evan Parker, Tony Conrad, Alexander Hawkins, Steve Noble, Pat Thomas and the late Steve Reid. Festival appearances include Akbank Jazz Festival (Istanbul), All Ears (Oslo), Amplify 2011: stones (New York), Audiograft (Oxford), Freedom of the City (London), Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Hurta Cordel (Madrid), Konfrontationen (Nickelsdorf), LMC Festival (London), Manchester Jazz Festival, Suoni per il Popolo (Montreal) and Tampere Jazz Happening.
